Papa Ciccio's (Crosspool) - Barry Johnson -

Rating:

We are the Johnson family who have been celebrating birthdays and anniversaries at this restaurant since we moved to Ranmoor in 1986. In all those years the food, staff, atmosphere, and ambience have always been excellent and consistent. And thank you for your hospitality and your version of filetto Rossini.

Lokanta (Broomhill) - Dr Saber Ali -

Rating:

I booked for a table to celebrate our friend's birthday with my wife and three children.

Our friend had come from France. The service from the manager in particular was cold and indifferent. Food was average at best, and the inconsistency in service staff warmth was palpable...

Very poor experience, especially since it was my friend's birthday... As host I was left embarrassed.

China Town (Woodhouse) - Hodgy -

Rating:

Would not eat in, had a takeaway. Really gone down hill as to what it used to be. Was as though it had been re-heated and tasteless.

Peacock Inn (Owler Bar) - Jenny -

Rating:

Enjoyed ladies lunch for 7 here. Drinks arrived promptly, followed by a very pleasant meal. The food was tasty and very good value for money. The service was excellent.

No complaints. We will come again and will recommend.

Cosmo (City Centre) - Roger Dungworth -

Rating:

Good quality food. The Thai selection would be my first stop, as it is truly excellent to the taste. Very good value at £15 per head.

Not recommended if you want a quiet meal, as when I visited there was lots of kiddies, but I was in early at first opening 5:30PM.

All in all recommended family eatery that will not break the bank for a 3-course meal.

P.S. very clean.

Kashmiri Aroma (Woodseats) - Stephen Betts -

Rating:

First time we have eaten here. Went for my nephew's 21st on a Friday night.

Was busy but we had booked a table already. The staff were very nice upon arrival and during the night. All the food and drinks we had were spot on. Even though it was busy we didn't have to wait long for our food.

Very good night out. Will be back, no problems.

Elmwood Farm (Beighton) - Susie Kirby -

Rating:

Had a fantastic meal... quite busy but food was hot and excellent quality. Very reasonable prices and even though very full could not resist buying cake to take away!

Peacock Inn (Owler Bar) - Alison Postle-Owen -

Rating:

My daughter chose the pub for an early dinner, as she had fond memories about how cosy the restaurant was. We were slightly disappointed to find the tables all in rows and too close to one another. We opted for the bar tables to be more private!

My daughter's food was acceptable but my risotto was very disappointing. The first attempt was clearly reheated but lukewarm. The second attempt was hot but very dry, a small portion and to be quite honest, not worth the money.

Unlikely to return.

Peacock Inn (Owler Bar) - Chris Stephenson -

Rating:

My husband and I ate there on Sunday. The service was good, the food was good. Definitely homemade Yorkshire puddings, always a positive for me. Staff were pleasant and the food came within 15 minutes.

Would return and recommend.

Beijing City (Greenhill) - Steve H -

Rating:

I have been going to this restaurant for about 6 years now. The food is always great, and the staff really helpful. I took my new partner for her first meal there, and she absolutely loved it. She especially liked the new waiter there, we think he was called Hans or Hanns. He was German anyway. He was so attentive and made us feel really welcome, and his English was excellent, which really helped, as some of the staff at the restaurant struggle.

Anyway, we will be back for more great food and service.

Marco's New York Italian (City Centre) - James O'Reilly -

Rating:

Awful to the point of being funny. If you're after a free meal, then just sit at a table for half an hour, counting the number of times the waiters ask if "this is your order".

Food is nothing like New York Italian, bland and commercial.

If you're bored... still avoid.

Beijing City (Greenhill) - Mark Stanhope -

Rating:

My family & I have been visiting this local restaurant for many years & have always (apart from a couple of occasions) had a pleasurable experience.

It has just been taken over by new owners & the food is tasty, hot & plentiful.

However, the service is a absolute joke.

The waiters can hardly understand or speak a word of English.

We received the wrong food three times (there was only one other occupied table in the restaurant).

The waiters just stand & stare at you. The place was cold & lacked any kind of atmosphere.

I have never been in a more unorganised restaurant in my life & will not be visiting again.

As another review states, this really is Fawlty Towers!

Gigi's Cucina (Nether Green) - Stefan Firth -

Rating:

Great little authentic restaurant near to Endcliffe & Bingham parks.

We have been many times and are going tonight.

Mostly evening meals but lunch also. I would rate the food and service as good an Italian as you will find in Sheffield.

Personally I thought the wines were reasonable, very nice too.

The monkfish is my current favourite main but they have other fish and meat dishes, I always check the specials too. You will be spoilt for choice for desserts.

The service is pretty slick too - just how I like it!
