Old Red Lion (Grenoside) - John & Josie -

Rating:

Just been to the Old Red Lion (Top Red) for a 21st. The restaurant that we had booked had closed and had not informed us. The manager fitted all 19 of us in.

The food was marvellous (try the chicken sizzler) and the staff could not have helped more. We will be going again.

White Rose (Handsworth) - Helen -

Rating:

Five of us went to the White Rose yesterday afternoon for a birthday meal and weren't impressed at all.

Three of us ordered chicken, which was dry and old tasting. Two of us ordered steak, which was overcooked and burnt! All they offered us was a free dessert. And they didn't even have the ingredients for cocktails in a pub!

We have all got stomach upset now and will definitely not be returning to the White Rose.

Florentine (Ranmoor) - Lisa -

Rating:

We went to this beautiful place for a meal for our first anniversary. We had some lovely cocktails to start with, served by a nice barman.

We were soon seated at the table but we were not handed menus, we had to ask. So we ordered our starters, which were quite nice, but we'd not even fished our starters when our mains came! They whipped our starter plates away and plonked our mins down to our disappointment!

We had chips that tasted like fish - I couldn't eat them - and I asked for a steak medium cooked and it was medium rare, so far too bloody for me. So that had to go on pan for longer. My other half had said his burger was bland, too.

The staff did say sorry and told the kitchen staff off, she said. So we asked for the bill expecting for our two cocktails to be free, with the food service having been so bad. But no, we were charged full price for them both! We had to ask for them to be removed.

All in all very disappointed with the place and will not be returning. Such a shame because it was such a nice place but something needs to be done about the chef. And for a Friday night it was empty so that says it all. But I will say all the staff were very nice and friendly.

TGI Friday's (Meadowhall Shopping Centre) - Nicola -

Rating:

Visiting here yesterday 9/9/2017 for my boyfriend's birthday. We were seated upstairs and then left for about 20 minutes before I asked this young girl if anyone was serving. The waitress took our order and brought our drinks 5 minutes later, but the best of it was we had to wait 1 hour before our food came. A couple next to us got up and left, as they got sick of waiting, and on another table a lady sent her burger back because it was cold.

When ours eventually came the presentation of the food was awful. The chips were cold and so was the burger. We called the manager, who was very apologetic and offered us vouchers for another meal at a TGI Friday's of our choice.

Fairways Inn (Birley Wood) - Gary Hague -

Rating:

Thanks for providing a great venue for my daughter's wedding. DJ and food was brilliant. The function room bar was well-manned and staff were great. Room was private just for function. Would recommend.

Castle Inn (Bradway) - Caroline Veal -

Rating:

I recently had a meal at the Castle Inn. I have a severe gluten intolerance and the staff were very helpful indeed to me.

They all knew the menus in detail and could not have been kinder in helping me sort out a meal that I could eat.

I had a relaxing, pleasant evening with friends and I am very grateful to them.

Mossbrook Inn (Eckington) - Vic -

Rating:

Quite simply the best food I have ever had at a pub, and it compares more than favourably with any top restaurant.

Staff were great, especially Ellen.

Vine (Mosborough) - J Brook -

Rating:

The Vine serves great, good value food. Their staff always gives us a warm welcome and friendly greeting.

Whatever your taste in curries, whether it be hot or mild, just ask the Vine's staff and they will cook to order.

The restaurant's interior decoration is pleasant and they stock a good variety of drinks. Unlike many Indian restaurants their lager is served nice and cold.

If you love your curries then you will like The Vine.

Best Indian restaurant in the Mosborough area.

Papa Ciccio's (Crosspool) - Keith Greenway -

Rating:

Been coming here for years and never been anywhere so consistently brilliant. The food, the service, the staff are always so kind and efficient. The best Italian in Sheffield without doubt.

Mossbrook Inn (Eckington) - Bethany -

Rating:

What happened to this place?

It used to be a lovely, friendly little pub with good food. We used to dine here regularly.

The meal we were served last night was terrible for the prices they charge, you would at least expect it to be fresh. They should give Gordon Ramsey a call.

As for the male bar staff that was serving last night, all I can suggest is take a dog biscuit with you in case he growls.

Elmwood Farm (Beighton) - S A Hubbard -

Rating:

We come here quite regularly for breakfast when the children are off school. We have been twice during the summer break and both times have been completely satisfied with the meals and service.

Elmwood Farm (Beighton) - J M Stretton -

Rating:

We have been in tonight with friends for carveries and the quiz. We paid for four carveries and when we got to the carvery there was a carcass from a turkey, a scrag end of beef, and a joint of gammon.

The chef was carving bits of turkey off the carcass and by the time my husband got there, there was very little left. He asked for some beef too but was given some hard bits, which I wouldn't have given my dog! My husband said to the chef that the meat was disgusting and he mumbled something back.

On getting back to our table a young waitress came to ask if our carvery was OK, to which we replied no! She asked if we would like to speak to a manager and we said yes. A woman wearing glasses came over and asked what was wrong, and my husband showed her his meat. She said someone had been looking for us because they had a fresh joint. She asked if we wanted some more meat, so my husband said yes please. She asked if everything else was OK and my husband said Yorkshire pudding was not nice. She apologised and came back with some fresh meat and mumbled something about I'll come back when you have finished eating and see about some desserts and a refund. Although she had been close by our table more than once and had looked at us she never came back to see us.

I find this really bad and can only say I will never eat here ever again.

Rutland Hotel (Broomhill) - Gaynor Pont -

Rating:

Where do I begin? My daughter Becky and son-in-law Wayne held their wedding at the Rutland Hotel, they promised us a great day but it was amazing beyond words.

Andy has the most outstanding memory and eye for detail. His team on that day were Callum, Nigel, David, Alex, and Sophie, all of them were friendly, helpful, and genuinely happy for us all.

The DJ deserves a mention too, he was brilliant.

The food is fresh, tasty, and beautifully served, everything was spot on. Andy you are the best.

One hiccup was meeting Verity, abrupt and unfriendly, making it pretty obvious she doesn't really like her customers.

You may be lucky enough not to have to deal with her, as Andy seems to be at hand all the time.

Thank you Rutland Hotel for a lifetime of happy memories.

Almas Indian Brasserie (Dore) - Maeve -

Rating:

Just wanted to warn other people. Went to Almas restaurant in Dore today. Have been there millions of times without issue.

Today was told they had a "no children policy" and asked me to leave their restaurant within five seconds of walking in and would not allow me to feed my daughter in the toilet cubicles while I waited for my dad to come and get us.

My sister who is extremely calm and passive ended up in tears and I had to feed Maya in a graveyard while I waited for my dad to come and get us.

Have worked in the catering industry for ten years and never experienced this level of rudeness and disrespect, ruined our whole evening and wasted money getting a taxi there. There is no mention on their website of children not being welcome. She's two weeks old, only cries when she's hungry. It's against the law to stop someone from feeding their baby in public.

I'm a new mum and it's scary going out with the baby, I shouldn't have been made to feel like this and just want to avoid others going through the same thing.

Also they don't mind people drunk out of their faces because of course they rack up a substantial drinks bill.

San Lorenzo (Crookes) - Renata -

Rating:

The food was not very good. It tasted like slop. How can you mess up a pizza? Greasy and gross.

The service was also not great. The owner and the waitress were pacing around and not picking up plates or paying attention to the fact that we left half of the meal on the plate. Not a great experience.

Moorlands (Owler Bar) - Peter Woodhead -

Rating:

I have dined with you for a lot of years, regular every week and I have had no complaints. But today at 15:45 hours I found the chef who wore a green hat was rude and surly. Obviously having a bad day and should not be taking it out on costumers. And the meal was not up to its usual standards. People on the front line should make customers want to revisit, not to be deterred.

Meadow Farm (Ecclesfield) - Jayne -

Rating:

Bar staff friendly.

Went for breakfast. Arrived at 9:10am and the place was still being cleaned. Women hoovering, and a lady walked past with a dirty mop, which stunk to high heaven.

Beans were cold, sausages were cheap and squishy in the middle, bacon was rubbery. We will certainly not be coming here again.

The last straw was a lady next to us on her knees with a hoover upturned and her pulling hairs and bits out of it.

I think if an establishment is advertised as being open for food from 9am it should be already clean and tidy.

Meadow Farm (Ecclesfield) - Jenni Williams -

Rating:

Would prefer to have given this place a minus score but couldn't!

Called here as a first-time customer today. Queued up to order food at the "FOOD ORDER" till. Great, no problem. Moved further down the bar to order my drinks. This is where the service became abysmal! Stood there with about 5 other people, 1 person serving so I piped up asking "is there someone else who could serve", only to be told they were all concentrating on food orders/delivery.

By this time, I was getting fed up and then noticed the people at the food order till were also ordering their drinks there and being served them! By this time I'd been stood there about 20 minutes.

I asked to speak to the manager and the lady said "I'm the assistant manager, have you got a problem?" "Yes I have, why are people at the food order till getting served their drinks before us?" Because, she said, drinks can be ordered at all tills now. So why have you got a sign saying "FOOD ORDER"?

Anyway, hope you get the gist of this. The food was not too bad but the service was absolutely abysmal. First time I'd ever been... and it'll certainly be the last.
