Cutlers Spice (Gleadless) - Harriet -

Rating:

Absolutely top notch. Considerably better than any of the others in the area, service is fantastic, as is the food. Took a family member there who "hates" Indian food and they have come away a convert. Clean, friendly, superb waiters/waitress.

Shapla (City Centre) - Andy B -

Rating:

Food and service fantastic. I love Indian food and have eaten much of it across the world.

I'm from Bristol and stumbled across this place on a walk through Sheffield. The food is tasty, hot, well flavoured and without contentiousness. Well done, enjoyed every mouthful. Only regret is that I am full. Such a tasty meal and the Indian restaurants in the South West could learn a thing or two from you. Many thanks.

Elmwood Farm (Beighton) - K Shelton -

Rating:

We came here today, Saturday 28th of April, for a late lunch. Adults had carvery and our 21-month-old had sausage and mash from the kids menu. Now it's 12:30am and our little boy is throwing up all over. Thanks Elmwood Farm, I'm fuming. Not good. I think I may need to report you to the authorities.

Akbar's (Rotherham) - Maz Dyson -

Rating:

Once a year we visit Sheffield for the snooker, and our visit would not be complete without a meal at Akbar's. The food is wonderful, we've never had a complaint. The service is second-to-none and we eat a lot of Indian food country-wide but nothing beats the flavours of Akbar's food!

We were asked four times this evening by our waiter if everything was alright and each time we complimented them on their food.

We recommend Akbar's to all and sundry in Somerset and Bristol, as you will not find finer fayre anywhere!

Thank you Akbar's for making our stay memorable once again.

Fox House (Peak District) - Fred Waghorn -

Rating:

Fox House is a magnet to the people of Sheffield, with a history of their youth in Derbyshire.

It is pub grub and fun for like minded people. On YouTube's Fox House Foxy Bird, it is summed up in satire in 1966 with Bobby Moor the Sheffield Locarno and the Fox House bear garden.

Butlers Balti House (City Centre) - David Rowntre -

Rating:

Poor service - power cut meant we had to eat in the dark. These things happen, however the meal was nowhere near usual standard. The waiter seemed to think the lack of meat (5-6 pieces at best) in my dish a result of the poor lighting. The meal returned, after my complaint, with the comment "is that alright for you".

When it came to payment we were sent up the road to the Co-Op to get cash. Despite knowing that the card machine wasn't working when we arrived, they forgot to mention this.

Think we'll try somewhere different next time.

Phoenix Inn (Ridgeway) - Roselyn Stanley -

Rating:

Booked a table for 6 people at 6:15pm last night. We ordered our food at 6:45pm. No food by 7:30pm so we asked a waitress was there a problem and was told there was a delay of 45 minutes.

Waited another 30 minutes and asked again. The waitress said there was 3 tables before us. Still no food by 8:30pm so we left.

We wasn't the only people complaining and at no point did anyone explain or apologise. We won't be going back any time soon.

Le Bistrot Pierre (Hunters Bar) - Jill Giannotta -

Rating:

Whatever the occasion you will not be disappointed with this restaurant. The menu changes constantly according to the seasons, and there is always something for everyone.

Great attention is paid to accompanying vegetables - never overlooked and always fresh. Desserts are obviously made in the restaurant and the crème brûlée is wonderful.

My favourite starter is the brioche with mushroom and Alsace bacon. If duck is on the "special" menu (small supplement) my advice is go for it!

Staff and management friendly and very helpful. My favourite restaurant in this category of dining.

Drakehouse Mill (Crystal Peaks) - Jamie -

Rating:

The food was nice, apart from the frozen mash, which was put on a plate under a bowl and heated but not stirred. I put a little in my mouth and it was cold until I chewed, then it scalded my tongue.

The only reason I paid for any of the meal was the young lady behind the bar and the manager - really nice and helpful.

A lot of mix up but will try again.

Old Red Lion (Grenoside) - Tracey Burkinshaw -

Rating:

I booked for 7-8 people for this evening and was warned that they were very busy tonight and food orders may take a while. However, this was not the case. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the overall service was excellent. The food was lovely and reasonably priced, and the meals were good sized portions. We really enjoyed our evening.

Waggon & Horses (Millhouses) - Wendy -

Rating:

Ate there yesterday, very disappointed. Pizza with hardly any topping, poor fish and chips, tiny salad bowl was just limp lettuce. All over-priced for what we got.

Took ages to get served, despite not being busy. Unfriendly staff who couldn't be bothered to take our order, clear the table, or even take our money to pay the bill. Won't be going back in a hurry.

China Town (Woodhouse) - Cardwell family -

Rations duck tub half full; 6 out of 10 for spring rolls; not good. Just gone to Wonder Kitchen and got loads.

Friday 30th March

Booked table for 7pm. Sat down on time ordered food. Waited till 8:10pm and asked where the food was. Was told they would check. Eventually ate at 8:20pm. The fish was terrible and chips were the same.

This is not the first time but will definitely be the last. I used be be a regular at this place but will not go anymore. Very disappointed.

Phoenix Inn (Ridgeway) - Katy -

Rating:

Went last night for tea with my parents. My partner ordered our food and my parents ordered their food a minute later.

Our steaks came out. I had a fillet, which was extremely chewy and tough. After waiting nearly 10 minutes we asked the waiter if the other 2 meals were on their way, to be told "yes, well erm I'm not sure".

Went to check and said because we ordered separately, about 6 orders had gone in between our orders. We literally ordered a minute apart and have the receipts to prove this!

Waited another 10 minutes and this was now an hour after ordering. We'd finished our meals, so my parents asked for a refund, which, to be fair, was dealt with straight away and the manager was very apologetic and couldn't understand why there was such a delay.

Hence to say we won't be going back any time soon and definitely won't be recommending to anyone else! Very disappointing!

Elmwood Farm (Beighton) - T Hancock -

Rating:

We've had ploughman's salad a few times and it has always been nice. Went in today and there was no blue cheese, although we were offered extra cheddar or ham. Sausage rolls looked and tasted old. They were greasy and dried up.

When it came it had cheese slices put together and cut into triangles for the cheddar.

Not going to bother again. Very poor. If we hadn't have been in a rush we would have complained.

Phoenix Inn (Ridgeway) - Joan Mangle -

Rating:

Absolutely disgusted! After ordering our 2 meals at 6:30pm and waiting until 7:30pm after seeing several other parties get their food, we went to complain and were just told "don't know what happened", then given our money back. No explanation from management. Wanted to give minus stars but not allowed.
