White Rose (Handsworth) - Courtney White -

Rating:

As a table of 18 all needs were met. Chef was on his own but still managed to get 18 meals out within good time so we could all eat together. Waitress was also alone and was great at customer service and checking we were all OK.

Brilliant food also, definitely recommend.

Piccolino (City Centre) - Irene Gascoigne -

Rating:

We have been for a meal for our granddaughter's graduation and the service was awful, plus my main meal was cold.

I didn't complain, as I didn't want to upset my daughter, who had booked the meal for 10 of us, and afterwards half of us said the same as me and my husband - awful!

The place where we were sat was freezing, they had to bring heaters in for us.

Amraj (Beighton) - Clive and Barbara -

Rating:

I was so incensed and baffled when I came across the reviews on this site for the Amraj restaurant at Beighton that I had to respond.

Barbara and I have visited many Indian restaurants and can vouch, that in our opinion, this is by far the best. Many of our friends have been introduced to this dining experience and in every case they are in full agreement with our assessment. The manager is "hands on" taking orders, waiting on tables, and has been involved in the cooking on occasions. He is a delightful personality who takes time to chat with his customers, making them feel welcome and more like close friends.

The exterior and the car park are in need of some attention, something which the restaurant intends to address in the near future, the interior however is tastefully and comfortably furnished without the pseudo "Indian" embellishments nor the overwhelming Indian music pervading the atmosphere.

I sincerely hope this review goes some way toward redressing the balance of some earlier reviews, as I fail to understand how their criticisms were arrived at.

Chutney (Gleadless) - Tanya Jeffcoate -

Rating:

I have been here many times and always satisfied. I like to try different meals. Last night I choose king prawn tikka saggy, only when it came it wasn't prawns but crayfish or banana prawn. I think when I ordered maybe you should have explained so that I could have had the option weather or not to order, as I think anything other than actual prawns are tasteless and I didn't really enjoy my meal, although their garlic naan is to die for.

Turtle Bay (City Centre) - Sam -

Rating:

Absolutely awful and pricey. We went to check it out after all the hype. Very disappointed. Cocktails had very little alcohol, the food was no way near authentic. As I have visited the Caribbean and enjoyed the food, so could not wait to try Turtle Bay. There must be other places in Sheffield. Will look around, as I love Caribbean food.

Rating:

This is the worst delivery experience I have ever had. First they delivered the food to the wrong person, then I was informed they where making a new order to send to me. Turns out they never even bothered. I called the restaurant and they where extremely rude to me. All of this took me 2 hours and no food. My card was charged and now I have to wait 2-5 business days for a refund. Just horrible. Don't order from here!

Phoenix Inn (Ridgeway) - Dawn Pensavalle -

Rating:

Lovely atmosphere, gorgeous decor, staff excellent and attentive, drinks recommended and were fabulous. Food, especially the lamb, was incredible. And the hosts, what can I say, AMAZING. Fabulous evening.

ASK Italian (City Centre) - Andrea Southern -

Rating:

This is the first time I have been in this restaurant and it is the last. I would have complained but we were in a hurry and I just wanted to get out. The first thing that disappointed was we were shown to a table with no choice where to sit. I hate that, I'm paying so I want to choose where I sit. The server stuck us right by the kitchen area so we were constantly passed by servers, not a relaxing time. It was very noisy.

Next was the disappointing food... we ordered two pizzas but neither would have covered a small tea plate, the topping was in the middle, the tomato sauce was only shown to the pizzas, if the chef used more than a teaspoon of tomato sauce between both pizzas then I would be surprised. Three little squares of mozzarella cheese on top plus a couple of mushrooms. The pizzas came with a small salad.

The staff were friendly enough but that is no compensation for indifferent expensive food. Each pizza was £11.50, rather too much for a small child-size pizza.

Monk's Bridge Farm (Dinnington) - Len Lunn -

Rating:

Called for breakfast Saturday 3rd November. Disaster to say the least. Where do I start?

First of all the frozen bread hadn't thawed out and was stuck together. Then cold plates, but also grubby around the edges. Problem with dish washer? Sausages were burnt beyond recognition. No eggs ready. Girl said "I'll bring them to you when cooked." Tomatoes and beans both cold. Bacon nowhere near cooked enough - almost raw.

By the time we sat down everything on the plates was nearly cold, then to add insult to injury the eggs arrived and guess what? On cold plates.

In future we will return to Queens Hotel at Maltby or Toby Carvery in Rotherham. Much better quality and it doesn't cost six pounds ninety nine.

Sword Dancer (Handsworth) - Bettina Jayne Winter -

Rating:

Terrible frozen food, full of kids under-age drinking! But on a positive note it was nice when it opened and good location, but sadly it has gone downhill.

Asia Palace (Wales) - Tina Morton -

Rating:

Has this restaurant changed its chefs? Had a takeaway tonight and really didn't enjoy it. We have ordered from this restaurant for years and the food has always been so nice, but not tonight. We have tried different Chinese takeaways but always go back to this one, as it is always so nice.

I have noticed that since it has changed its name it has gone down hill. They charge £2 delivery but we always tip driver, as we feel awful if we didn't, and they can't even put the free prawn crackers in any more.

Don't think we will be ordering again from here in a rush. Gutted, as this was one of the best Chineses I'd ever had.

Mamma Mia Pepe (Hillsborough) - Kelly -

Rating:

Eat here regularly with my partner, who by the way is a very fussy eater... we love it. The food is always cooked exactly to our taste, is fresh and served piping hot. Any extras you want are accommodated and have never been over charged. Staff are lovely and my partner and I always leave happy and well fed... This place is a gem for people who do prefer non-chain food! Love it.

Mediterranean (Hunters Bar) - Sarah Jane Galtrey -

Rating:

Way too much oil in the dish.

Simply could not eat it.

Over cooked and frankly a ghastly eating out experience, which was a shame, as was invited out for dinner with good friend.

Not returning.

La Vaca (Broomhill) - Ella Louise -

Rating:

Best food ever. Rate you 99999 and more. Nice people make you feel at home. Food is great. You should do man vs food but 2 of the big steaks if they eat it all they get their picture on the wall and a La Vaca shirt. I am only 11 years old now I'm telling you you're the best. I will come her for my 12th birthday. Nice staff, best place ever.

Royal Elephant (Dinnington) - C Williams -

Rating:

Seven of us went for carvery on Sunday 21st October & it was lovely. Everything was so well cooked and nicely presented. The chef was so jolly.

The restaurant was so busy but all the staff were so pleasant & smiling. I asked for gluten-free gravy & the waitress brought it within minutes. Nothing was too much trouble for them even though you could see they were really busy.

We been here before & we have always had a lovely meal & the staff are always so nice.

I came in UK recently and I found there with relaxed atmosphere, great hot drinks and friendly staff, even in busy times. Love you Summer House.

Peacock Inn (Owler Bar) - Hall -

Rating:

Booked a table for five for Sunday lunch at 2pm. Seated next to the toilets, which you could smell. Ordered drinks. When drinks came we ordered food and was told there was a hour's wait for food. And when the food came it was average. I will never eat there again.

Phoenix Inn (Ridgeway) - Matt -

Rating:

Large party of us for a family occasion. Staff were lovely and friendly but myself and partner had awful meals. It was supposed to be salmon with roasted vegetables. It came to the table cold and the veg were certainly not roasted. I think the veg came out of a packet along with the new potatoes. £12 a plate was the final insult.
