Mamma Mia Pepe (Hillsborough) - Anna -

Rating:

Best family restaurant in Sheffield. We have been going for 5 years in this cosy and comfortable restaurant. Great atmosphere, delicious food. A special menu Tuesday - Thursday is great.

Ashoka (Sharrow) - Michael -

Rating:

A must if you are eating out in Sheffield, 5 star service every time. Best Indian food in the UK by a long way, owner is the driving force and often is front of house meeting and greeting you. Keep up the good work, I'll be back next week!

Turtle Bay (City Centre) - Michael -

Rating:

Having visited the Caribbean several times I was excited to try Turtle Bay in Sheffield. It was not too busy but our table wasn't ready until 9:30pm, and no apology or explanation.

The first drinks at the bar were dreadful, with flat mixers from a pump and no normal tonic for G&T.

Food took over 30 minutes for starters to arrive, they missed the duck rolls off the order. Mains were all OK but the overall service and experience had ruined it.

Would expect better from a chain with 40 outlets, a real shame.

Akhtars (Killamarsh) - Tracey Baldwin -

Rating:

Ordered food at 7pm tonight and turned up with only half of my order. Meal turned up 8:25pm, then I had to wait for the rest of my order. It arrived at 9:05pm.

We have been using Akhtars for a few years now. We eat out there and sometimes have two home deliveries a week. This is not our first time with missing food, it's about 8 times. So I won't be using them again.

Truly spoilt my tonight meal with the hubby. The rest of the food was too cold, so it went in the bin. In total I had to wait 2 hours for my meal.

Mint Leaf (Dronfield) - Rachael Sanderson -

Rating:

Sent incorrect rice with order. Rang up and passed to manager. Asked for refund for the difference and response was "they were busy now and I had to ring back later"! This response was not acceptable.

Waggon & Horses (Millhouses) - Margaret Anderson -

Rating:

This is the second time I have had a bad meal. This time it was my son that had a steak pie but the meat was so tough he sent it back. The waitress said the chef sent his apologies and he could have a free sweet.

I feel we don't get any feedback when it's a bad meal, only if it's a good review. This is good money I am spending and it's a waste.

Amraj (Beighton) - Alan -

Rating:

Me and a friend have just visited Amraj restaurant. We frequent many Indian restaurants in Sheffield, Rotherham, and Chesterfield, and I would like to say how pleased we were with the service, food quality, and decor. It's definitely worth a visit. When we entered we were greeted and shown to our table. The food was hot and served speedily by attentive staff.

Give it a try!

Phoenix Inn (Ridgeway) - Jane Woodhead -

Rating:

Tonight was our third and final attempt at the Phoenix, giving it a chance to redeem itself after previous poor service.

Our table was booked for 6:30pm. Three of the four drinks arrived 30 minutes later and we had to go and ask for the fourth. Then, there was another wait for the food order to be taken and it was finally served at 7:25pm - an hour after sitting down.

My meal was very nice - halloumi and roasted vegetables, the others were "okay".

The place was extremely busy with just one young server having to deal with all the tables.

We couldn't spare another hour waiting for desserts so paid at the bar and left.

Such a pity, lots of hungry people waiting an age to be served. Third and final time for us. We won't be going again.

Fairways Inn (Birley Wood) - Sean -

Rating:

Today we called in at the Fairways after many years of being away, for lunch.

The decor inside is looking somewhat dated and generally is a little drab, which is a first impression that customers get.

Onto the menu. We opted for the carvery. Unfortunately the meal was warm at best and not very ecstatic to look at nor appetising to eat. The roast potatoes are warm, similar story with the meat. Vegetables were cold.

This establishment has set standards at one particular clientele, so if you want mediocre, lukewarm food, poorly prepared and overpriced, this is a place for you.

On a positive note, they managed to microwave the fudge cake and provide one scoop of ice cream to a reasonable standard.

The only plus, it was a nice pint and staff were pleasant.

In conclusion: avoid.

Cosmo (City Centre) - Tilley -

Rating:

Poor service... Clearly had a table booked for 12 people, showed them the booking and proof of the reservation and they denied any knowledge of having this booking. They refused to give us a table despite the booking confirmation. Ruined our whole plans for the day!

Dore Grill (Dore) - Harrison -

Rating:

We have been many times to this friendly restaurant and have always been given a warm welcome and excellent service. The food is second-to-none and the staff can't do enough for their diners. Thank you and will see you again soon.

Bella Donna (Renishaw) - Martin Walton -

Rating:

Brilliant atmosphere New Year's Eve. Food was brilliant - best meal I've had in years. Staff were excellent, service was superb. Couldn't do enough for us, even down to singing and guitar serenades at the table.

We booked New Year's Eve because we had a meal there earlier in the week and the food, staff, and the service and atmosphere were so good we decided to book our New Year's Eve. So glad we did.

Will definitely go there again.

Thanks to all the staff at Bella Donna.

ASK Italian (City Centre) - Angela North -

Rating:

Just been for my (birthday) lunch. We had Tesco vouchers to use. Myself and my husband ordered the same from the lunch time menu.

Bruschetta starter was cold hard bread with freezing cold tinned tomatoes on top, very bland. The main was bland white sauce and pasta. We left most of it. The waitress advised the manager, who had nothing to say or do. She never came over and was not interested.

I wasn't going to complain until I was told we couldn't use our vouchers because we had ordered off the lunchtime menu. Paying the full price went through me.

I won't go back to use the vouchers and would never recommend going. I can make both much nicer myself at home.

Akbar's (Rotherham) - Zam Khan -

Rating:

Went with family at peak time, got a table straight away and the service was excellent, especially from brother Hasan. The food was delicious and arrived at the right time.

Elmwood Farm (Beighton) - Julie Heap -

Rating:

Been again New Year's Day. It's now our tradition for the last 3 years and again you have not disappointed us.

You had no gammon so you did ham instead. You let us sit where we wanted and the service was lovely. My granddaughter found a ring in the toilets, hope it got to the rightful owner.

See you you again in the 2019 and you will see us next New Year's Day. Thank you all and a happy New Year. xx

Crosspool Tavern (Crosspool) - Lesley -

Rating:

We booked a table for 10 on Boxing Day at 5pm. No table for us, they ended up moving some people and managed to get us sat together. Then we waited and waited - think they had forgotten us. There were young children in our party and they were very hungry.

Eventually we got some food. The soup was nice but there wasn't much of it. The meat in the carvery was very dry and the young lad didn't have a clue how to carve the meat.

After a long wait we got the sweets. No one asked if we wanted a coffee so we paid and left at 7:15pm. So two and a half hours for a three course meal.

The staff - when we saw them - were lovely.

We will not go again. Very disappointed.

Waggon & Horses (Millhouses) - Margaret -

Rating:

I took my grandchildren for a meal today, the 28th of December. The children had a nice meal. I decided to have a pizza. This was appalling, the cheese was horrible and I couldn't eat it. I did tell the waitress. I am not a fussy eater and I have had some good meals at your restaurant. I just thought you should know. Thank you.

Taco Bell (Sharrow Vale) - Yurena Lopez -

Rating:

The lady at the counter informed us I couldn't order my kids' choices, as they are in "halal month". We left.

Where is this info when approaching the restaurant, and why am I refused food on your menu on grounds of others' beliefs? They don't enforce "no meat" Friday in honour of Christians.

Crosspool Tavern (Crosspool) - Andrew -

Rating:

Sadly the service and food quality is going from bad worse. That's if you get your food at all.

We booked a table for 5pm. There was only one member of floor staff to serve and clear all the tables on Boxing Day. We got seated for 5:20pm.

The carvery was bone dry and stale - a norm since the menu changed. Most of the menu was out of stock. We had to change the order after we had paid for it. For 6:50pm we were told the first two burgers were ready only, and the rest would have to wait. We had 9 people in our party. What a shambles; we asked for a refund and left.

Since the change of menu and management the carvery is always dry and stale and you have to wait up to 40 minutes for a burger, even when it's quiet, if you're lucky. It used to be a good family pub; not any more. All the regular staff have left because of customer complaints, and the ones that are still there have all had enough.

Thanks for spoiling our family Christmas meal. We have been to you the last 5 years. Last being the word.
