George & Dragon Restaurant

Situated to the north of Sheffield, not far off the M1, this gastropub has its own brewery nearby and sells the bottled versions in the village shop across the road. The George & Dragon dates back to the 16th century and is one of the oldest buildings in Wentworth. It feautres log fires and real ales.

We called in here on 06/01/2018 knowing nothing about it. Despite the somewhat scruffy exterior and tired interior we were pleasantly surprised. The husband was very complimentary about the range of ale and I was impressed with the wine list.

The menu was interesting with some unusual options. Our food was freshly cooked, well presented and delicious. There was a very pleasant, friendly atmosphere and the service was friendly and efficient.

Definitely worth a return visit and a recommendation to seek it out if you are in the vicinity.

Best Sunday lunch in the area!

Great tasting, properly hand-carved meat, real gravy, great roasts, Yorkshire puds and vegetables and even my wife's veggie option looked really tasty and appealing.

We went earlier this year with about 8 friends and were served in less than 20 minutes, on a busy Sunday lunch time.

Also they have a good range of ales, never a bad thing.
