We went to this beautiful place for a meal for our first anniversary. We had some lovely cocktails to start with, served by a nice barman.
We were soon seated at the table but we were not handed menus, we had to ask. So we ordered our starters, which were quite nice, but we'd not even fished our starters when our mains came! They whipped our starter plates away and plonked our mins down to our disappointment!
We had chips that tasted like fish - I couldn't eat them - and I asked for a steak medium cooked and it was medium rare, so far too bloody for me. So that had to go on pan for longer. My other half had said his burger was bland, too.
The staff did say sorry and told the kitchen staff off, she said. So we asked for the bill expecting for our two cocktails to be free, with the food service having been so bad. But no, we were charged full price for them both! We had to ask for them to be removed.
All in all very disappointed with the place and will not be returning. Such a shame because it was such a nice place but something needs to be done about the chef. And for a Friday night it was empty so that says it all. But I will say all the staff were very nice and friendly.

We had been to this place when it was the Fulwood Inn on many occasions (as it is in walking distance from where we live), including two large parties. It was usually very good, except on one occasion.
We went to Florentine in the first month of it opening for lunch (two battered cod and chips, one pizza) and it was truly bad. We didn't complain, thinking that it was maybe a problem with the newness of the restaurant. We found the staff to be very nice and helpful, though.
We went back last week (20th August 2015), and although we were a bit scared of making the same order, what we did order (sea bass) was very good, and although the seafood pasta was fine, it wasn't special. For afters we had deep-fried ice-cream, and that was fine, although I've tasted better: the ice cream was a bit lacking in vanilla taste and too cold and the breadcrumbs were slightly overdone, but really not a problem - we enjoyed it.
We thought that it was a really nice lunch and we are going again this week - may take courage and order the battered fish and chips and pizza!

I have been to this restaurant five times now and it just gets better.
The food is presented in a very different way. Its always hot and served with a smile. The service is quick and the food is a bit different to your usual pub grub. You feel as if you have had a good night out whether it be family or a romantic night out for your birthday or a special occasion.
I think this restaurant would be perfect place for a Christmas dinner or works party with a twist of elegance at a price you can afford. Staff do a good job to keep you happy.

Decided to try the Florentine a couple of weeks after it had opened with my wife. Previously a Marston's restaurant known as the Fullwood Inn, we had in the past had some very nice meals there. The Florentine is primarily a pizza restaurant but you can get an expensive steak there if you require.
The pizzas are comparably priced with other restaurants in the Sheffield area. We both decided to try the signature dish, The Florentine Special. We didn't have to wait too long for it to arrive. It was quite large, looking like a dried-out wash leather, and although I have never tasted a wash leather I suspect it tasted like one. In the centre in minute quantities were roasted bacon, pulled pork, meatballs, parsnip crisps, caramelised apple, onion, mozzarella and a smear of tomato sauce. All served on a wooden board. Not the best pizza that I have tasted.
Having said that the service was brilliant. The waitresses were friendly and polite, although a little inexperienced.
